Vijay says in his own words !!
I am suffering with a rare condition described as a narrow pelvis and deformed ribcage. This deformity creates a painful constriction of my abdominal stomach and organs. The following is an overview of my condition in plain terms:
- PELVIS – my pelvis is narrower than it is supposed to be, thus creating a smaller-than-normal pelvic cavity. As a result, my hip joints are narrow and are angled more to the inside rather than the outside.
Also, my pubic symphysis “my pubic arch” is small, so my sit bones (Ischium bones) are narrow reducing natural skeletal support at the base of this area.
RESULT & SYMPTOMS:
- Less pelvic cavity results in my intestines being congested and protruding
outside.
Narrower hip joints results in the body not being properly balanced while standing and extra weight being placed on my spinal cord instead of my hip joints.
Narrow sit bones — doesn’t get enough base to sit nor while lying down.
TREATMENT – reconstructive surgery widening of whole pelvic bone.
2 RIBS – my ribs are more curved inwards than being broad, which creates an abnormally narrow and barrel-shaped ribcage and my whole ribcage is pushed to the front. Again due to my narrow pelvis, my whole body is like a ‘’V’’ shape and my skin is constantly compressing my ribs, especially my lower ribs that are more curved inwards. Due to this restricted abdominal cavity, there is not enough space for my internal organs (stomach, intestines and liver). This results in my organs being compressed underneath my ribs.
SYMPTOMS:
Severe pain in the lower ribs; pain and uneasiness in my internal organs (stomach
and intestines); difficulty in sitting, as I don’t get enough support from the back as my ribs
are round/ barrel-shaped and my organs are protruded outside.
Difficulty in lying down, as my ribs are pushed to the front and I don’t get enough support from my back.
TREATMENT – reconstructive surgery to reshape my ribcage with braces similar to Pectus Carinatum.
CONCLUSION
The above descriptions are supported by diagnosis provided by examining doctors. Notes, x-rays and ultrasounds are also available. Thank you for your attention.
