By When we got an invitation to attend the Janave function that was conducted by Arya Samaj in the Radha Madhav Mandir in Brampton, Canada.. we were excited. This is first such occasion for us and heard lot about Arya Samaj. Many good things and Many bad things. So wnated to check it first hand.
Some of the bad things we heard were, Arya Samaj don’t consider themself as Hindus and they bash Moorthy pooja and few more brownie points. What we found was much different from those we heard. Their function was conducted in the Radha Madhav Temple and they treated every devotee and temple with at most respect. Also they started the function with Gayathri manthram, Markandeya Ashtothram and Homam etc. As a 3rd person when we visited having no idea about what to expect, we really enjoyed the Janave function.

Some of the good things we heard were, Arya Samaj able to many people back to Sanatana Dharma. I could see why it is possible. Because their process is very simple. I could see all the children and adults were sitting there arround the Havan. They said few manthras and put the Janave for all with no castism or other sectism for bothe men, women (Women wearing Janave was not in our tredition) and then Havan was done. Then took the blessings of Guruji and other older people there and all was over in a matter of maximum 2 hrs. This is the same practise i’m sure they do when converting and bringing them back to Sanatana Dharama.
I saw some flaws in my own tradition when I visited Arya Samaj Javev Function. Many South Indian Brahmans many times never put Janave for their children sighting its too expensive and we want to do grand etc. What I learned here is, just do it. It doesn’t need to be grand.. its a right thing and got to get done. Thats about it. Any way you be the judge by checking the video to come to your own conclusion.
If you are your family do hear about Arya samaj Janev function happening near to you, we will recomend you to go with your family and make sure to have Janave Sanskar done as per your family tradtion. I also agree with Arya Samaj that Janave is not for one sect or group and it has been always symbol of Sanatana Dharama.
Last but not the least is the Food/Prasad offered after the Janeve function by the Radha Madav Mandir. This was the best dinner and was very tastey.
