Hindu Heritage Celebration Nov 3, 2018

I attended a meeting of Volunteers, on Saturday, September 29, 2018, for the upcoming Hindu Heritage Celebration to commemorate Hindu Heritage Month. November has been proclaimed as Hindu Heritage Month by the Government of Ontario.

The meeting was held at Sringeri Hall, 80 Brydon Drive, Toronto and sponsored by several Hindu organizations and temples under the umbrella of the Canadian Museum of Indian Civilization. The evening program included Vedic chanting, Tassa drumming and Classical Indian dances. Speakers at the meeting include   Dr. B. Doobay, Dr. V. L. Lakshmanan, Ramesh Chotai and Laj Prasher. The MC was Kushagr Sharma.

Special Guest was Audrey Kitagawa who spoke about the Parliament of the World’s Religion (PWR 2018) convention will be held in Toronto from November 1 to 7, 2018 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC). Special features at PWR 2018 will be the Diwali & Hindu Heritage Month celebration on November 2, 2018, 6-8 pm. There will also be an Anniversary Banquet celebrating 125 Years of Swami Vivekananda appearance at the Parliament of the World’s Religion on November 5, 2018, 6-8 pm. Also of special importance will be the Puja, Havan and other Hindu Religious activities that will be taking place daily at MTCC during the PWR 2018 convention (see Flyer attached).

There are about 375 Volunteers already in place for this Hindu Heritage Month event which will be held at the International Centre, Mississauga, Ontario on November 3, 2018 and is expected to attract thousands of Hindus local and international. The Event include:

  • Full day celebration with participation of several Hindu organizations
  • Special program for children and youth including arts and craft and interactive games with prizes. Information booths
  • Program starts at 11am – Free Lunch

The main keynote speaker at the Hindu Heritage Celebration is Dr. Subramanian Swamy. A host of other Speakers from politics, media, academia and entertainment are scheduled to be present. (Seewww.hinduheritagecelebration.org as well as Flyer attached).
