Buddha Purnima Parade & Celebrations in Canada

This month Sunday afternoon (27th May 2018) Buddha Purnima was celebrated in the city of Mississauga Canada. Vesak: Buddha’s Birthday was in end of April and was celebrated on 27th May 2018 with a huge parade where people from various Buddhist countries came with their cultural dress and music and dance and participated in joy. In the parade, there were also children from Buddhist schools in Canada and also from the religious couching centers of temples participated in big way.

Buddhist Monks from all across Canada representing various countries were also participating in the parade along with dignitaries and politicians of Canada and other VIPs. It was a great show where we were able to see many countries and their tradition and also their devotion to Bhagawan Buddha.
The event kicked off with blessings, chanting by three traditional cultures of Mahayana, Theravada and Vajrayana, a bathing of Buddha ritual and performances from different temples and centers. These include martial arts, singing, dancing and more.

After the memorable parade when we enter the ground, Celebration Square was surrounded by various booths displaying the respective country’s culture, meditation and other interesting information regarding Bhagawan Buddha. This was really exiting to know all about Buddhism in one place from countries such as Cambodia, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bharat etc.

We could enjoy the Buddhist culture in Parade, cultural program and also in the booths that were impressive and also very informative. Also was a great place to meet many monks and talk and get their blessings too. In overall this was one of the incredible function for anyone to attend and enjoy and get blessed.
